Elafonissos is located at the southeastern tip of the Peloponnese. The population of the island, which is about six hundred in winter, almost doubles in summer. The island is a tourist attraction with a peak in August. Elafonissos is a Natura 2000 protected habitat code GR2540002 [3] [4] [5] The area includes shrubby and thorny flounder, Mediterranean alps, moving coastal sand dunes and sandy beaches.
